CN Terminal Decongestion Rules
- Loads are removed from CN ramps (Brampton or Malport) to off-site locations.
- No units should be removed which are on customs/government hold, hazmat units, reefers or units with same day reservations.
- Loaded units transferred to off site locations (except MISC) are subject to $300.00 CAD shuttle along with $300.00 CAD/day in storage charges upon the expiration of freetime.
- Loaded units transferred to MISC yard are subject $300.00 CAD shuttle plus the standard CN storage charges per CN 9100, item 6500 (group 1).
- Freetime starts at 00:01 on the day after the unit is deramped and allowed 24 hours free. Storage charges start at 00:01 once the freetime expires.
Toronto
Transfer of loaded intermodal equipment from Brampton or Malport.
To provide you with better service, we may transfer grounded equipment from Brampton Intermodal Terminal (BIT) or Malport Intermodal Terminal to Mississauga Intermodal Service Center (MISC) or other CN served off-site locations, excluding:
- customs and government agency holds (Except MISC)
- units containing dangerous goods/hazardous materials;
- units requiring reefer running service;
- units for pick-up with same day reservations
CN served off-site locations (excluding MISC) include the following:
- Amar Transport, 7290 Major Mackenzie Drive, Kleinberg ON, L0J 1C0
- Amar Transport, 160 Sun Pac Blvd, Brampton ON, L6S 6E4
- Container Storage Solutions, 8373 Mayfield Rd, Brampton, ON L6 P0H5
- Paul’s Transport, 1555 Matheson Blvd, Mississauga, ON L4W 1HN
- S&R Trucking, 5254 Old Castlemore Road, Brampton ON, L6P 0G4

Storage calculation:
- Free time: 24 hours. Free time starts at 00:01 on the day after being deramped or placed in storage at the terminal. Storage starts at 00:01 after the free time ends.
- No additional free time will be provided once a unit arrives at the offsite location.
- Storage accumulated at Brampton and Malport terminals prior to the transfer will be chargeable.
- Charges end with the removal from storage (i.e. day the unit out-gates).
Item 6900
$300 per unit for shuttling and ingate plus:
- MISC: Daily fee per unit as per CN 9100 Item 6500 Group 1
- All other locations: $300 per unit per day

Montreal
Transfer of loaded intermodal equipment from Brampton or Malport.
To provide you with better service, we may transfer grounded equipment from Montreal Taschereau Terminal to CN served off-site locations, excluding:
- customs and government agency holds;
- units containing dangerous goods/hazardous materials;
- units requiring reefer running service;
- units for pick-up with same day reservations
CN served off-site locations include the following:
- Amar Transport, 5421 Clereoux Blvd, Laval, PQ, H7T 2E9
Storage calculation:
- Free time: 24 hours. Free time starts at 00:01 on the day after being deramped or placed in storage at the terminal.
- Storage starts at 00:01 after the free time ends.
- No additional free time will be provided once a unit arrives at the offsite location.
- Storage accumulated at Montreal terminal prior to the transfer will be chargeable.
- Storage charges end with the removal from storage (i.e. day the unit outgates)
Item 6902
$300 per unit for shuttling and ingate plus $300 per unit per day for storage.
Responsibility: Guarantor of charges
Chicago
Transfer of loaded IMPEX intermodal equipment from Chicago (Harvey).
To provide you with better service, we may transfer inbound equipment from Chicago (Harvey) Intermodal Terminal to one of the following depots:
- Forest View Depot, 6410 W. 46th Forest View, Il, 60402
- Illinois Transport, 20012 W. South Arsenal Road, Wilmington, Il, 60481
- Illinois Transport, 3100 W. 77th Street, Chicago, Il, 60652
- Integrated Services, 281 E 156th Street, Harvey, Il
- Joliet Depot, 3201 Centerpoint Way, Joliet, Il 60421
- Universal Intermodal Services Inc., 250 E 167th Street, Harvey, Il, 60426
Units could be transferred to other location(s) except in the case of:
- units still within the storage free time period;
- customs’ holds; government agency holds; dangerous goods/hazardous materials;
- units requiring temperature protective service;
- customs hold; government agency hold; dangerous goods/hazardous materials;
- units requiring temperature protective service
Trucking companies must bring their own chassis to pick up the containers from the offsite locations.
Storage charges accumulated at the Chicago terminal prior to the transfer will be maintained/chargeable.
Storage calculation:
- Free time: 2 days free time starting at 00:01 on the day of the availability at CN’s Chicago (Harvey) intermodal terminal
- Storage time starts at 00:01 on the day after arrival or placement in storage at the Chicago Intermodal terminal
- Storage charges start at 00:01 after free time ends
- Storage charges end on the day of departure or removal from storage (i.e. day the unit out-gates)
Item 6920
$225 US per unit, which includes the shuttle and in-gate to the facility.
$150 per unit per day, each additional day after arrival at a depot. Storage charges already incurred while at CN’s Chicago (Harvey) intermodal terminal still apply.
