ACL Policy Recap for new Electric/Hybrid Vehicles – BEV, PHEV, HEV

Used Electric/Hybrid Vehicles are NOT ACCEPTED on ACL Vessels.
- Vehicles will be considered new, provided they show max 50 km.
- New EV/HVs from non‐manufacturer/OEM will be accepted only if the shipper is a public body (i.e Ministry of Defense, international UN missions, etc…).
- Vehicles from private parties, private persons and / or other companies will not be accepted.
RORO Bookings of New EV/HVs (Cars, Small Vans, Big Vans, LM Roro units) are subject to the following provisions:
- Vehicles must adhere to IMO special provision rules 961 in order to be accepted as non dangerous cargo.
- At the time of bookings, including those sent via EDI, the shipper must specify the following information:Make, Model, Vin, Engine type (BEV / PHEV / HEV / etc.) and inform if there are any vehicles with low ground clearance in order to allow the involved parties to adopt the needed measures to handle the vehicles without risk of impact.
- Vehicles MUST be properly identified as EV vehicles with an appropriate label/sticker/badge, attached to the front windshield, detailing the type of engine (BEV / PHEV /HEV / etc.) to allow immediate identification by the crew and terminal operators.
- Electric vehicles MUST be delivered for loading with a SoC (State of Charge) of the battery between 20% and 50%.
- The auxiliary battery or low voltage battery must be sufficiently charged to activate/operate the vehicle.
- Any available documentation issued by the manufacturer regarding:
- the handling of the vehicle (including towing if needed),
- specific instructions on start & stop/switch off the electric system,
- (de)activation of transport/logistic modes (if applicable),
- and especially all available emergency responders guidelines (or similar instructions of the OEM on how to handle possible faults of the vehicles or accidents/fires)
must be sent in advance to the booking Agent and to Grimaldi Quality & Damage prevention Dept.
- In case a new EV/HV is delivered on terminal, and it does not comply with the above booking requirements, the Line will reserve the right to refuse to load the relevant vehicles.
