Damage Protection Surcharge

Applicable only to 20 ft, 40 ft dry vans, high cubes and reefers.

Unless otherwise stated in this surcharge or confidential Service contract, a surcharge of 20.00 USD per container will be assessed on every 20ft, 40ft dry van & high cube and carrier will no longer pursue damages to containers below 300.00 USD. For any damage claim above 300.00 USD the shipper/Consignee will be responsible for the total claim and the first 300.00 USD will not be waived.

For Reefers, a surcharge of 75.00 USD will be assessed on every 40ft Reefer High Cube & Carrier will no longer pursue damages to containers below 500.00 USD. For any damage claim above 500.00 USD the shipper/consignee will be responsible for the total claim and the first 500.00 USD will not be waived.

Detention at Rail Ramps

In the event that Terminal and/or Rail charges and/or storage cost are incurred with respect to cargo being transported by the Carrier in the US or Europe, on a carrier haulage basis any such demurrage charges and/or storage cost shall be for the account of the cargo. In addition to any charges that may be assessed by the US Rail Carriers, the Line will also assess a rail detention charge and the Carrier will bill an Admin Fee.

German Toll (Maut)

The German government has agreed on a bill which increases the German toll (Maut). The increase will take into consideration a CO² emission factor. Our inlands were increased to take into consideration this new level, however many motor carriers have begun assessing an admin fee on top of the increase which needs to be recovered by the line.

Hazardous Cargo Processing Fee (Westbound only)*

The carrier will charge a Hazardous Cargo Processing Fee when more than 5 (five) separate consignments of hazardous cargo are presented for shipment in a single container. Charges will be determined by quantity of consignments, for full details please refer to ACL’s complete rule tariff.

Return of Unused Equipment

When a Shipper, or his agent, returns an empty container to the custody of the Carrier, unused, then the following charge will be assessed:

The above amount reimburses the Carrier for costs associated with, but not limited to, the additional handling, processing, gate fees, and physical transfer of the unit back to the Carriers Dedicated stack at the place of interchange. Any associated costs in relation to M&R will be billed in addition to the above.

Tank Endorsed Driver Surcharge

In the United States, any container which contains liquids totaling or exceeding 1,000 gallons, or that carry multiple tanks of 119 gallons or more, that exceed 1,000 gallons, require the use of a Tank Endorsed Driver and will be subject to a surcharge of $200.00 per shipment.

BAF of 18% and an Environmental Fuel Surcharge of 12% of Ocean + BAF, will be assessed against all Rollable or Non Containerizable cargo, destined to the port in one of the following named countries: Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia.
